How to Prepare Your Home for Warmer Weather
Spring is the perfect time to schedule maintenance on your plumbing and cooling, even if you’re not experiencing a plumbing or cooling emergency. We’ve compiled a short list of services we’ve found to be beneficial to homeowners who are looking to maintain a healthy and efficient home.
Check for Leaks
Cold Iowa weather can cause pipes to freeze in the winter, meaning these pipes can and leak or burst. As the weather gets warmer, use the time to check your pipes for leaks. Although not every pipe in your home is accessible, you may be able to find and fix the visible pipes around your house, often resulting in lower utility bills. Although a leak may seem small at first, it can escalate into a much larger (and more costly) problem over time.
Inspect Your Sump Pump
Your sump pump’s job is to prevent the lowest part of your home from flooding. It’s installed in a sump pit (typically found in the basement), and as water fills the pit, the sump pump removes the excess water to prevent it from overflowing. Even the smallest amount of water in your basement can cause significant damage, so it’s important that your sump pump is in proper working condition during the rainiest parts of the year. If you have any questions about sump pump repairs or installation, a Hanna team member can provide honest and dependable advice.
Tune Up Your HVAC System
Prevent your HVAC system from breaking down when you need it most by scheduling an HVAC tune-up. Neglected HVAC systems can often harbor mold and bacteria growth, can cause gas leaks, and can be the culprit of other safety issues. Your technician will clean and complete a safety inspection, ensuring your system is running safely and smoothly before the hot summer months.
By being proactive with your plumbing and cooling maintenance, you can save money over time and ensure a safer and healthier home environment for your family. Want to schedule an inspection this spring? Learn more about our services or contact us for more information.
