It is the right call for lines that keep backing up after routine cabling. We usually camera the line first to make sure the pipe is sound enough to jet.

Why jetting solves the clogs that cabling only postpones

A cable restores flow by drilling a hole through the blockage, but it leaves the grease, scale, and root mat coating the pipe walls — which is why some lines back up again every six or twelve months like clockwork. Jetting strips the pipe back to bare wall, so the interval between problems stretches from months to years. It shines on restaurant and kitchen lines caked with grease, on laterals with recurring fine root intrusion, and on older lines full of sludge that a cable just slides through. For a line on a repeat-clog subscription, the math favors the deeper clean.

When jetting is the right call — and when it is not

Consider jetting when the same line has needed cabling more than once in a year or two, when backups return quickly after clearing, or when a camera shows heavy grease or root regrowth. But jetting is not a cure-all: several thousand PSI in a cracked, bellied, or collapsing pipe can make things worse, which is why a camera inspection should come first on any questionable line. If the camera shows structural failure rather than buildup, the honest conversation shifts from cleaning to repair — and you should see that footage yourself before deciding anything.
